In anticipation of the approaching winter storm—which has the potential to produce record-low temperatures and as much as six inches of uncommon snow—many grocery stores in the New Orleans area will close their doors on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, you won’t be able to shop at Rouses, Breaux Mart, or Robért Fresh Market in New Orleans. The employees informed us that other Canseco’s and Winn-Dixie locations will be closing. The subtropical New Orleans region is predicted to see more snow on Tuesday than it has since the late 1960s, prompting the closures.
On Monday, before many local chains close, last-minute buyers can still get what they need during regular business hours.
According to a spokeswoman, all 53 Rouses stores in Louisiana, along with those in Diamondhead and Picayune, Mississippi, will be closing their doors on Tuesday. Some stores in Alabama and Mississippi will also be closing tomorrow at noon. The weather forecast will determine Wednesday’s opening status for the chain located in Louisiana.
“We’re also taking this time to make the necessary preparations so we can serve you safely and effectively once it’s safe to reopen,” stated Marcy Nathan, creative director for Rouses’s website.
New York Hit by Another National Chain’s Store Closures
“Please stay safe, stay warm, and check our website or social media channels for the latest updates on additional store closures,” according to her.
On Tuesday, certain Winn-Dixie stores in Metairie will close early, while others, like the ones on Holiday Drive and in Tchoupitoulas, New Orleans, will be closed throughout the day. The company’s weather warnings page will keep residents updated on any changes to store hours.
“We will keep our local Winn-Dixie stores open as long as possible for in-store and online shopping, keeping in mind the well-being of our dedicated associates,” a representative of the business said.
Tomorrow is a closed day for all New Orleans region Robért Fresh Market and Breaux Mart stores. According to employees at various Canseco’s locations in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes, the store will be closed on Tuesday. The intensity of the winter storm will determine the store’s reopening plans for Wednesday.
