Strawberry sorbet is a dessert made with mainly 2 ingredients. I have used fresh strawberries in this recipe but you can use frozen ones too.

Sugar is added for sweetness but can also be replaced with a sweetener like honey, maple syrup, or a low-calorie sweetener like agave.

A teaspoon of lime juice and a pinch of salt is added to give a perfectly balanced taste.

How to make strawberry sorbet?

It is extremely easy to make strawberry sorbet at home especially with an ice cream maker. First, hull all the strawberries by removing the greens.

Blend all the ingredients – strawberries, sugar (or other sweeteners), salt, and lime juice into a smooth mixture using Vitamix or any other blender. Chill the mixture for about 2 hours.

Prepare the ice cream maker as per the manufacturer’s instructions. I have used the Cuisinart compressor ice cream maker for this recipe. It does not require freezing the bowl before hand.

Place the sorbet mixture in the ice cream maker and preferably use the gelato maker dasher. Churn the sorbet for about 25 minutes to a soft-serve consistency and strawberry sorbet is ready to eat.

How do you know when sorbet is done churning?

Strawberry sorbet takes around 20-25 minutes to churn. You will see that the sorbet is glossy and is of soft-serve consistency. The dasher may move but the sorbet does not. This means that the sorbet is done churning.

How long to freeze homemade sorbet?

Once the sorbet is churned in the ice cream maker, it has a soft-serve consistency and is ready to eat. However to make it more firm you can freeze it in a freezer-safe container for 5-6 hours before serving.

What should I serve with sorbet?

Sorbet can be enjoyed as is! It has all the juicy flavors of the fruits, in this case the strawberries. You can also serve it with some sliced strawberries or other fruits.

You can also pair it with some ice cream or even serve different flavors of sorbet together.
