Two-ingredient melted ice-cream cake

With just a pinch of flour and 30 minutes in the oven, you can transform an ice cream disaster into a dessert triumph. This is one of those recipes where you just have to know what you’re doing.Because, after all, when the internet promises that you can bake a cake out of melted ice cream and self-raising flour, it would be impolite not to experiment and find out for yourself. From the main image, I’m certain that you can see that this truly worked.

  1. It took at least 24 hours for me to stop telling everyone about it since I was so taken aback by what had happened.
  2. Some of the videos on the internet looked to be a tad dense, but to be fair, they were striving for a more banana bread-like outcome.
  3. In order to achieve a fluffy cake, I decided to add an extra sprinkle of baking powder and increase the ratio of ice cream to flour in order to include more liquid.
  4. There are no restrictions on what kind of ice cream you use, and you can even make this using vegan ice cream, as Lizzo demonstrated on her TikTok video.
  5. I can’t vouch for the success of the low-carb/low-fat variations, so the success rate is entirely up to you.
  1. ‘Ice-cream cake’ recipe and instructions.
  2. 1 cup self-raising flour and 14 teaspoons baking powder (optional, depending on how fluffy and light you want the cake to be).
  3. Combine 2 cups melted ice cream (I used chocolate), 1 cup self-raising flour, and 14 teaspoons baking powder.
  4. When baked in a 20cm cake pan, this recipe will yield one tiny cake, which is perfect for stacking.
  5. However, if you’re baking in a bigger pan, I recommend double the amount.

Mix just until everything is combined, being careful not to overwork the batter. It will be rather thick, and some little lumps are quite OK.Cook for 30 minutes at 175°C (check at 40 minutes for a bigger cake) or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.Allow to cool in the tin before turning out onto a cooling rack to cool fully.

  • Serve it as-is, with more ice cream, or with a quick ganache topping for an extra special treat!
  • This recipe works particularly well with tubs that have been partially thawed, then re-frozen, resulting in the loss of their ice-cream quality.

Can You Bake Your Ice Cream?

An insulated bag or a cooler loaded with ice may be sufficient to keep your treat chilly for a short period of time. With the same processes at work, it is even feasible to bake ice cream in a hot oven and have it come out with its frozen consistency! This activity will teach you how to do it. Background Heat is the energy that travels spontaneously from a higher to a lower temperature when a temperature difference exists. There are three ways in which this energy might be channeled: Convection is a term used to describe the movement of fluids (liquids or gases) that transports heat. An example of this is when hot air from your oven is forced to move to colder parts of the oven. At other times, radiation is responsible for transporting this energy. When the grill in your oven glows red and you can feel heat radiating from it, you may have had an experience similar to this. Direct contact is the third method by which this energy can be transferred from one location or object to another—you know what I’m talking about when you touch something hot and burn yourself! Thermal insulators, which are comprised of materials that block heat from transferring, can be used to stop this energy from transferring. A thermos, as well as an insulator placed in a cooler or insulated bag, can help keep the heat out. Thermal insulators must be used to keep ice cream firm while it is being baked in a high-temperature oven. The good news is that certain baked pastries act as great insulators. Cakes such as sponge cake and meringue are excellent examples. Can you figure out why this is happening? Observing the similarities between these baked delicacies and other thermal insulators such as cardboard cups, down feathers, or layered clothes may point you in the correct way! Materials There should be two spherical dishes, preferably identical, that can be put in the freezer.
  • Plastic film, often known as plastic wrap
  • Ice cream
  • a spoon
  • a freezer
  • a sponge cake with a diameter approximately one inch wider than the diameter of the bowl
  • A cup of granulated sugar
  • a half teaspoon of cream of tartar
  • three egg whites at room temperature
  • Electric mixer on a hand-held scale
  • A mixing bowl, a spatula, and other tools
  • Two cake pans, at least one of which is the same size as the sponge cake
  • Oven mitts
  • a baking sheet
  • Cake-cutting knife for cutting the cake
  • An adult to lend a hand It is necessary to have an adult assist you with some procedures in this activity, such as running an electric mixer and using a hot oven.
  • Preparation For an ice cream mold, line the interior of a circular bowl with two pieces of plastic film or plastic wrap, folding the excess over the lip of the bowl. The use of plastic will make it easier to remove the ice cream from the bowl
  • also,
  • Repeat the process with the second bowl.
  • Fill the ice cream molds halfway with ice cream. If your ice cream is too firm, let it aside for a few minutes before attempting it again. In order to ensure that there are no air pockets remaining inside the ice cream, press it down and level the top surface.
  • Placing the ice cream-filled molds in the freezer for at least one hour is recommended. A hot oven will be used to bake the ice cream at the conclusion of the exercise.
  • Procedure Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). What are your thoughts on putting ice cream in an oven set to 400 degrees F and preventing it from melting?
  • Pour the egg whites into a mixing basin and enlist the assistance of an adult to whisk them with an electric mixer on a medium speed until they are stiff. Keep an eye on how the transparent liquid egg white transforms into a white foam. You may have seen how the volume of the egg whites varied throughout the procedure. What may be the reason behind this?
  • As soon as you add the cream of tartar, urge the adult to continue beating until soft peaks form when the beaters are lifted up. The peaks will curl inward, which is just normal
  • Add a little quantity of sugar and ask an adult to whip it into the foam on the high-speed setting until it becomes foam. Continue in this manner until all of the sugar has been incorporated and dissolved into the egg whites. If the mixture is glossy and the peaks hold their shape once the beaters are removed, you have done it correctly! This combination is referred to as meringue.
  • Instruct the adult to disconnect the electric mixer and take the beaters out of the machine. Later on, you can wash the beaters using the other tools that you have.
  • You will construct the cake in a matter of seconds. Make a start on this around 20 minutes before you intend to consume it. Before you begin constructing, make sure that your oven has been warmed.
  • To build the cake, start by placing the sponge cake in the center of your cake pan
  • Take one ice cream-filled mold out of the freezer and carefully remove the ice cream from the mold with the help of the plastic wrap. Turn the ice cream over and set it in the centre of the sponge cake with the flat side facing down. Take away the plastic
  • Use a spatula to spread a thick layer of meringue over the ice cream and the visible sections of the sponge cake
  • enlist the assistance of an adult to set the pan containing your cake in the preheated oven
  • Allow it to sit for approximately 10 minutes, or until the outermost layer of meringue turns golden
  • then remove it.
  • In a hot oven, what do you think would happen to frozen ice cream?
  • To put your prediction to the test, take the second ice cream-filled mold out of the freezer, carefully remove it from the freezer, and flip the ice cream out onto a second cake plate to cool completely. Remove the plastic wrap and enlist the assistance of an adult in placing this pan in the oven. Keep an eye on what occurs
  • When the cake is finished baking, ask an adult to remove it from the oven. Because the ice cream was added later, you can leave the pan with only the ice cream in it for a bit longer. Ensure that the oven is turned off.
  • Cut a quarter of your cake in half and take a peek inside. What happened to the ice cream? Is it still frozen and firm, or did it melt and become liquid? What makes it different from the ice cream that is still cooking in the hot oven? What do you suppose it was that kept the ice cream in the center of the cake so cool in the first place? What was it that kept the ice cream so cold?
  • Extra: Do you believe you’ll be able to build miniature ice cream cakes with cookies on the bottom as an experiment? Do you have a preference for the cookie? Check it out and see if it works for you
  • Extra: Why would a cooked cake be used as the bottom layer in a recipe like this? Won’t it work just as well to place the ice cream on top of the batter and then bake both the batter and the meringue both at the same time? If you’re doubtful, give it a go anyhow.
  • Extra: Make an insulator out of stuff you may find around the house that can keep a cup of ice cream cool for up to 20 minutes using only household goods. Two identical ice cubes should be placed inside and outside of the insulator to evaluate the performance of your design. The results should be recorded. Wait 10 or 20 minutes and then weigh the ice cubes to see how much they weigh—or how much melted water they provide—and make a comparison. If your ice cube weighs heavier than the one that was not insulated, or if it contains less ice cubes than the one that was, the better your product will perform

Observations and conclusions Was the ice cream in the center of the cake still firm and frozen when you looked at it this morning? When the uncovered ice cream was placed in a hot oven, did it melt rapidly as it should have? Both the sponge cake and the meringue contain a significant amount of trapped air bubbles.

The heat is kept at bay by this layer of stagnant air.It is an excellent thermal insulator, and as a result, it does not allow much heat to pass through it readily. In this way, the icy ice cream beneath is kept cool—at least for a short period of time.In contrast, if you leave the cake in the hot oven for an extended period of time, the ice cream center will ultimately warm up and melt.

  1. According to your observations, this occurs far more quickly when the sponge cake and meringue are not present to provide protection.
  2. Much to the cake and meringue, insulated bags or coolers are frequently constructed with a fixed layer of air to prevent heat from escaping through the walls.
  3. Cleanup Clean up your workspace and wash all of your equipment and containers with soapy water after each use.
  4. There is more to discover.

How to Share A Little ″Leftover Ice Cream″

Having leftover ice cream may seem like an oxymoron, but that is exactly what this piece is about! The word ″leftovers″ is used in my book, Creative Ways to Use Up Leftovers, to describe a range of circumstances that are not always considered to be ″leftovers.″

  1. A genuine leftover is a dish that has been prepared to completion or the final few bits of an ingredient that are superfluous to the needs of a particular dish.
  2. Culinary waste items such as a Parmesan rind or potato peels are examples of this.
  3. Storage cabinet scraps are items that have been neglected and are hiding at the back of a pantry or refrigerator
  4. for example, a spoonful of marmalade or half a package of peanuts
  5. Excess – having too much of anything as a result of being overly passionate when picking blackberries or taking advantage of two-for-one deals
  6. Miniature portions of things you wish you had more of, such as two pieces of chocolate and four pals
  7. Snippets
  8. What to do in the event of an accident, such as what to do with the packet of cookies you sat on

What I’m talking to is the Snippet scenario, which is when you have little quantities of something that you wish you had more of. Here are some of my suggestions for…

Leftover Ice Cream

It is the Snippet predicament that I am referring to here; little quantities of something that you wish you had more of in a larger quantity. Here are some of my suggestions for a new project…

Ice Cream Truffles

Making this dessert is a great way to use up bits of leftover ice cream while also impressing your guests.Be prepared by getting your equipment and other supplies ready before you start making frozen desserts.Work as rapidly as possible.

Take the ice cream out of the freezer and roll it into little balls with your hands.Immediately coat with something tasty and complementary, such as cocoa, melted chocolate (not too hot!), crushed biscuits, crushed caramel, chopped nuts, sprinkles, grated chocolate, and so on.Immediately place in the freezer until required.

  1. Serve with a small dish of chocolate sauce for dipping if you want to make it even more stunning.

Ice Cream Filled Profiteroles

I used to have a spouse who referred to these as ″poovy boirays″ – bless him, he had no idea why. Although these little choux pastry puffs are traditionally filled with cream and coated with chocolate, you could substitute ice cream for the cream and drizzle the tops with a complementary sauce of your choosing.

Ice Cream Sandwich

You may either choose a cookie or biscuit that is very crunchy and crumbly or one that is soft and cakey, since both will be delicious straight from the freezer. It is possible that chewy biscuits will freeze too firm.If you’re baking cookies for a specific reason, undercook them slightly to ensure that the texture remains consistent when frozen…

…sandwich the cookie while it is still warm with extremely cold ice cream, which will partially melt and soak into the cookie before setting firm in the freezer — even more gooey goodness!Fill the container to the brim. Here’s one that I did a while ago.

Ice Cream Cake

This is something that has been thrown together at the last minute. Just before serving, fill and decorate a cake with a softened complementary ice cream that has been frozen. Put the ice cream back in the freezer for a few minutes to allow it to firm up a little more. Cut into slices and serve.

Ice Cream French Toast

Bread, preferably soft and white, 5 thick slices (soft and white is preferable) 250ml (give or take) of melted ice cream – if you don’t have enough leftover ice cream, you may add a little cream to make up the difference. You may use butter for frying and whatever toppings you like that go well with the flavor of the ice cream In case the ice cream isn’t completely melted, gently warm it over a low flame. No boiling is permitted!

Make sure to cover all of the bread with the ice cream before serving.Melt a knob of butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat.Fry in the butter until crisp and golden brown on each side, about 2 minutes each side.~ Serve immediately with appropriate toppings of your choosing, such as butter, cream, clotted cream, flavoured syrups, maple syrup, honey, jam, fresh fruit, or anything else that strikes your fancy.

Milkshakes – of course

Per person, a basic milkshake is served…2 ice cream scoops (vanilla flavor) 250 milliliters of milk 120 milliliters pure vanilla extract (the genuine deal) Using a liquidiser or a food processor, combine the ingredients. As previously said, it is fundamental, but you may do whatever you want with it, for example…

Make use of ice cream with a variety of flavors.Add honey, maple syrup, flavoring syrups, or whatever else you think would go well with the ice cream flavoring you’ve chosen.Toss in some fresh fruit.Incorporate fresh herbs or a dash of chilli syrup (which is particularly delicious when combined with mango and/or lime).

  1. Depending on how thick or runny you want your sauce to be, you can use less or more milk.
  2. Decorate the top with whipped cream and/or chopped almonds, grated chocolate, or other toppings.
  3. Incorporate an appropriate amount of alcohol – preferably a spirit, as lager would not be nearly as delectable!
  4. On our menus, these were referred to as ″Adult Milkshakes.″

Ice Cream Soda

Another option is to use Float, which in Australia is also known as a Spider!Similarly to the previous recommendations, your ingredient choices will be influenced by the sort of ice cream you choose to use.Pour a teaspoon or two of your favorite sauce or syrup into a tall glass and let aside.

Using a splash of your favorite soda, loosen it up a bit.Add a teaspoon or two of milk or cream and mix thoroughly.Add a couple of scoops of your favorite ice cream to the mix.Fill up the gaps with more of your favorite soda; the combination should bubble and froth to your enjoyment.

  1. Decorate the top with whipped cream and your choice of garnish, such as a flake, sprinkle, or a cherry.
  2. Use a straw as well as a long spoon to serve your drink.

Ice Cream Cocktails

Basically, you combine complementary liqueurs, fruits, sauces, and ice cream and give it a catchy name like Lose Your Cherry (vanilla ice cream, cherry brandy, and cream soda) or Fuzzy Navel (vanilla ice cream, cherry brandy, and cream soda) (peach ice cream,,peach schnapps and orange juice). This is an Ice Cream Mojito, which consists of mint ice cream, a generous slosh of golden rum, soda water, and a mint sprig for decoration. So, if your little darlings are ready to return to school, leaving you with the duty of figuring out what to do with all of the remaining ice cream, you now have some suggestions on what to do with it.

Make your Own Ice Cream!

Why You Shouldn’t Refreeze Melted Ice Cream – Praline’s Own Made

  • June 28, 2016

In the event that you have ever left ice cream out on the counter for an extended period of time or had it melt when the power went out, you may have opted to refreeze it in order to ensure that it did not go bad. Although it may seem tempting, refreezed ice cream can have an adverse effect on the texture and flavor of the product, as well as being potentially harmful to your health.

How Ice Cream Is Made

Icing cream is prepared by churning and freezing a mixture of ingredients such as fat and oil as well as sugar and water. Other ingredients include stabilizers, flavors, and sometimes candy or fruit. The liquid is agitated in an ice cream machine before being frozen to a creamy consistency. The act of churning generates air pockets, which a
