Ohio’s Toledo —
Four years ago, a police officer in Toledo lost his life while performing his duties. On Saturday, his loved ones and fellow cops gathered to honor his life and legacy.
“It was definitely, it’s tough,” remarked Cosette Stalker, mother of Brandon Stalker, a police officer from Toledo who died protecting city residents in 2021.
An incident occurred in Toledo’s Old West End on Collingwood Boulevard near Holy Rosary Cathedral in the early hours of Monday, January 18th, 2021, when reports were received by the Toledo Police Department regarding vandalism.
During an armed standoff with police, 27-year-old Christopher Harris shot and killed 24-year-old Officer Brandon Stalker.
Harris was killed when police returned fire.
Those closest to him still remember it with great sadness, even after all these years.
“He was well-liked by many. However, he never stopped smiling, laughing, and wanting to help out others. Spoke about how much she did for her friends and anyone else that needed it. “He would be of great assistance to everyone. That was his essence. He has been brought up to do that. That was his whole point. It was really challenging.
Whitmer High School is where Officer Stalker earned his diploma in 2015. He was a high school baseball player.
Stalker coached the Whitmer baseball team after graduation and was a role model for a lot of young players.
The parking lot by Washington Junior High was the perfect place to honor Stalker’s life, according to his family, because it was the place he knew best: the neighborhood.

Attendees at Saturday’s gathering paid tribute to Brandon by sharing stories of his impact on their lives.
If you’ve ever met someone who is truly genuine, you’ve met Brandon. Like one of those individuals who would always be there for someone in need, no matter the hour, Amber Webster. “I went through a lot in life, and he was always like the person that was there no matter what.”
Noah Zimmerman, another friend of Stalker’s, also spoke about the effect he had on people in his life.
“Just the most enormous heart anyone could ever want to have. His laugh and grin are infectious; they could lighten any dark cloud. Zimmerman stated.
His mother is still dealing with the grief and death of her son.
I was hoping things would get easier, but that hasn’t happened. It’s really challenging. “It’s getting harder,” Stalker lamented.
Regardless, his impact will endure indefinitely.
“We just keep his name alive and keep him going and talk about him all the time, Just talk about him all the time like he’s here, And he’s watching over us,” he said.
