3. Why Ice Creams are served in Paper cups?
Ever wondered why ice cream is served in a paper cup? Or why a paper cup with ice cream feels normal in hand but steel cups feel colder in hand? There is a very interesting science behind this. Understand this with an example:
We pour the ice cream at the same temperature in two different cups. The first one is a paper cup and the second one is steel. A steel cup will feel colder than a paper one. This is because of the heat conduction process happening here. According to the science of heat conduction, heat flows through a hot object to a colder one.
As we know steel is a good conductor of heat. So, when we touch the steel cup, heat flows from our body to the steel cup which makes it colder. But this science doesn’t apply in the case of paper cups. Because paper is a bad conductor of heat which results in feeling normal to touch even with loaded ice cream.
